David Dunn (Bruce Willis), a depressed security guard, survives a violent train crash in which all other passengers were killed. And, more than that, he doesn't have a scratch on him. After returning to his family, Dunn finds an unsigned note asking if he's ever been sick. Dunn decides to investigate his health history and eventually tracks down the man who left the message, comic-art dealer Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson).
