Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Christina (Scarlett Johansson) are two best friends vacationing in Barcelona. While Vicky is straight-laced and preparing to get married, Christina is free-spirited and sexually adventurous. During their travels they meet flamboyant artist José Antonio (Javier Bardem). After being invited back to his home, Christina immediately throws herself at José.
